NYCC-19 Commends Maigida Foundation for Humanitarian Support to youths and less- privileged

The Nigerian Youth Compact on Covid-19 (NYCC-19) has commended Maigida Foundation for Humanitarian support to the youth and the less privileged in the society.

Mallam Gambo Haruna, National Chairman of NYCC-19, made the commendation during an advocacy visit to the Founder of the Non Governmental Organization(NGO) in Keffi Nasarawa State on Friday, Dr Samuel Adegoke.

According to Haruna, NYCC-19 is a domestication of the United Nations’ Compact on humanitarian actions on COVID-19

He added that the aim of the compact was to help government mitigate the spread of coronavirus on the impact, especially among youths during the post Covid

According to Haruna, in the course of his duty outside the compact, he stumbled on the humanitarian activities of the the founder, especially in Keffi

He noted with delight that Adegoke had used the Maigida Foundation to touch several lives positively and therefore,he deserved commendation and recognition

The national chairman of the body said the philanthropist had also been doing so much for the people of Keffi and outside Keffi environs.

Haruna revealed that the founder had assisted so many people around him,” even though he(,Adegoke) is not blowing his trumpet.”

Prince Chibuike Echem, Vice Chairman NYCC-19 also appreciated Adegoke and the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi for their untiring effort in the current COVID-19 period.

He described the hospital and its staff as playing great role in the fore front in the fight against coronavirus.

Echem, however, observed that young people were the most neglected segment of the population in Nigeria, adding that as such, were the most affected by the impact of COVID-19

Echem also stated that the compact would be engaging over 10 million youths to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 and therefore, sought partnership with organizations and individuals to support the project.

The Head of Advisory unit of NYCC-19, Engr. Uzoh Ifeanyi, who is also the focal person Commonwealth Alliance of Youth Workers Association (CAWAY) Nigeria also commended the founder and advised him to partner with the Compact, to touch more lives in the country.

Responding, Adegoke applauded the NYCC-19 team for coming together in the fight against COVID-19.

Adegoke, who is also the Head of Finance, Federal Medical Centre (FMC), said he started the foundation like a joke but never knew it would get to where it is today.’’

He added that his foundation had assisted people in so many ways;both economically and medically.

The founder added that for the NYCC-19 coming with this project was like working together with his foundation.

He promised that the foundation would continue to work with NYCC-19, pending when the Corona virus vaccine would be available.

” We will be willing to support you in any way we can.

“The Synergy produces better result, hence we are ready to partner with the NYCC-19.We will fine-tune our relationship to produce a better result, Adegoke said.

BENUE 2023: SENATOR ABBA MORO MAKES STRONG CASE FOR IDOMA GOVERNOR AT PDP CONGRESS.

BENUE 2023: SENATOR ABBA MORO MAKES STRONG CASE FOR IDOMA GOVERNOR AT PDP CONGRESS.

By James Amedu

The Senator representing the good people of Benue South Senatorial District, Comrade Abba Moro, has called on the people of the state to support a candidate from Benue Zone C to become governor of the state in 2023.

WhatsApp Image 2020-08-08 at 10.45.20 PM (1)

Senator Moro made the plea on Saturday during the Benue State Congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to elect state Executives of the party.

The Lawmaker urged political leaders in the state to pick courage and support someone from Benue South to become governor so as to build an all-inclusive Benue State.

Since Benue State was created in 1976, nobody from Benue South axis has been elected as governor, a jinx Senator Moro said should be broken in 2023.

He called on the five royal families from Zones A and B to support somebody from Benue South for governor in 2023.

His speech below;

“Today is unique because it sets a stage for a milestone and, therefore, let me seize this opportunity to thank the Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, who tenaciously ensures some level of cohesion in PDP that makes it a formidable party and a party to beat in Benue State.

“Today, I stand on behalf of the good people of Benue South Senatorial District to say that as we set the stage and march towards 2023, the good people of Benue South asked me, if I come here, to say that they crave the indulgence of the Benue people to support somebody from the Benue South Senatorial District to become Benue Governor in 2023.

“In 2007 when some of us contested for governorship seat, we were under the impression that Benue had three zones and that since zones A and B had produced governors of the state, it was the time for Zone C to produce one.

“This was unmindful of other permutations that were in the watch.

“Today, 2023 stares us in the face. I am saying because it will be very difficult for us to meet again in good time before other permutations to decide on where to go.

“And so, Your Excellencies, distinguished ladies and gentlemen, it’s my pleasure to say here that by all calculations that our amiable Governor is the fifth Governor of Benue State of the Tiv speaking area of the Royal families.

“I, therefore, plead with our brothers from Zones A and B to support someone from Benue South to become governor, even if it’s for just one term.

“Today, we are on the threshold of history and I urge our political leaders to pick up courage to support one of us to become governor, to build inclusiveness in the Benue State and the Benue of our dreams.

“I agree with the spirit that has pervaded the historical life of our Tiv brothers and sisters of ‘eating and giving to your brother’, that in the build-up to the new inclusiveness, let the people of Benue South become the ‘brother’ of the Tiv now.

“All of you know that a Tiv man, the revered JS Tarka, fought for the minorities, and, therefore, I call on our Tiv brothers and sisters to pick up from where our revered statesman stopped by making 2023 a year where Benue will build a new inclusiveness. A year where the Benue people will say ‘enough is enough’, that we are one people because we work together and together we stand stronger.

“Together we can achieve more. Together we can go far in the drive for us to make a new Benue a reality. A Benue where everybody is everybody’s keeper.

“Thank you and God bless Benue State!”
