8-Storey Building Under Construction Collapses in Imo with Causalities and Fatalities

Many Imo residents are terrified and perplexed over the 8-Storey building under construction that collapsed yesterday evening along Musa Yar’Adua drive in Owerri Municipal Council Area of Imo State .
Rescue operation is still ongoing at the scene of the incident. One person has been confirmed dead while several others are still trapped in the rubbles.

One of the survivors, who introduced his name as Prosper, said that at the moment they were nine in number that have survived. Five have been taken to the hospital who sustained various degrees of injuries.
According to Prosper, “I was very close to the building when I heard a crack around the pillars and I started running and before you know it it is like a sound of a bomb. The story building fell down.
“We are working in different departments I can’t count the actual number. We are many. We may be up to 40 in number. They have taken five people to the hospital. They were badly injured.”
Another survivor, who goes with the name Ike,
“We are up to 20 in number, we have those mixing cement. We have those pouring cement. There are plenty of people. We pray that God will help them come out alive.”

Ooni of Ife welcomes his son and wife to the Palace of Ile Oodua
The Ooni of Ife has formally welcomed his newborn son and the child’s mother to the palace.
A welcome ceremony was held in the Palace, with the Queen presenting the newborn Prince to the Ooni who then sat on his throne with his heir in his arms.
Sharing photos from the ceremony to Instagram, the monarch wrote: “Today, I welcomed our prince Tadenikowo Adesoji Aderemi Eri-Ifeoluwasimi and the mother to the palace of Ile Oodua.
“The almighty will exalt him and divinely make him the best.”
